We now have a requirement for an Experienced Supply Chain Manager with a strong Construction Industry background, to lead and develop our Building team.

Role Overview:

Responsible for the development of a robust and effective Regional Supply Chain in line with Company requirements and expectations, in conjunction with the assisting of both Pre-construction and Construction teams in Subcontractor and Material Supplier choice to ensure the receipt of robust and compliant bids, mitigating risk throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction Stage:

To assist the Estimating function in the selection of Subcontractors for each trade. Selection to be based on database approval, performance and H & S history, market knowledge, supplier preferences/recommendations, financial strength etc.

Dependent on size & nature of packages… have involvement with subcontract quotations, check and resolve qualifications, iron out where possible contingency items, attend/chair subcontractor interviews in conjunction with bid teams.

Check quotations for spec. compliance. Explore value engineering opportunity with subcontractors and suppliers and offer to design team for comment.

Undertake financial checks on proposed subcontractors and produce reports.

Liaise with supply chain, advising preferred suppliers of our proposed subcontractors. Ensure subcontractors have received our preferred supplier quotations.

Obtain feedback from subcontractors as to the performance and competitiveness of preferred suppliers.

Be involved in the negotiation of ‘back to back’ deals where applicable and table offerings to Commercial Director for review.

Ensure the utilisation of database approved subcontractors where possible.

Attend tender review meetings as and when possible.

Construction Stage:

Liaise with Commercial Teams ensuring compliance in respect of the utilisation of vendor assessed and approved subcontractors.

Ensure that the preferred supply chain is being utilised by the proposed subcontractors

Liaise with the preferred supply chain keeping them up to date with subcontract package developments.

Undertake and forward subcontractor financial checks to the Commercial Teams prior to engagement.

Attend pre-let meetings for strategic packages where possible. Ensure the subcontractors are receiving the service and most competitive rates from the GT preferred supply chain.

Experience and Qualifications:

Reporting to the Regional Commercial Director, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and strategic thinking procurement/supply chain professional, a good negotiator, with an excellent knowledge and understanding of ‘Building’ subcontract packages.

A proven experience of a successful track record of Subcontract, Material and Plant procurement.

A sound construction, technical and manufacturers product knowledge.

Good written & verbal communication skills.
