HelpAge International helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives.

We work with our partners to ensure that people everywhere understand how much older people contribute to society and that they must enjoy their right to healthcare, social services, economic and physical security. We do this by supporting practical programmes, giving a voice to older people and influencing policy at local, national and international levels.

To support implementation of the project “Community based home care and active ageing” funded by the Swiss Red Cross, HelpAge International is looking for the following position:

Project Manager

Reporting to Country Director of HelpAge International in Moldova, you will provide all practical support to the implementation of project activities and events including general administrative and logistical support working closely with eight partner NGOs and Older People Groups (OPGs) in Soldanesti and Resina. You will manage project budget, maintain records of all project activities and databases, prepare all project reports. You will help ensure that all aspects of the project are carried out in accordance with donor’s contract of Swiss Red Cross, HelpAge procedures and legal requirement of Moldova. You will liaise with the partners in the regions to provide them direct support in project implementation with regular travel to the project sites. You will be responsible for project communication function making project presentations for public events working with different level stakeholders at national and local level and preparing project’s information, education, and communications materials.

You will have at least 2 years experience in a similar position and educated to degree level or qualified by strong professional experience in civil society development, social sciences or a related field. You are self-motivated and working well under pressure when things get very busy. You work well in a team, have a good and respectful attitude to working with older people and other audiences, you are diplomatic and tolerant. You are flexible and available to travel as required, sometimes at short-notice. You are expected to have good IT skills and to communicate well with others, verbally and in writing, in Romanian, Russian, and English.

The post is based in Chisinau and is a full time position with the initial one year contract starting from 1 February 2014.
