Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop various facets of the Hadoop EDW Java/Hadoop ecosystem
• Write clear, efficient, tested code
• Develop code as part of a wider team through pair programming and code reviews
• Contribute to both program and system architecture
• Evolve development standards and design patterns
• Work with business stakeholders to flesh out and deliver on requirements in an agile manner
• Deploy and maintain applications in production environments
• Communicate and document solutions and design decisions
Preferred skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent combination of skills, experience and education
• Very good command of English, both written and spoken is a must
• At least 5 years of Java server-side programming
• The Hadoop ecosystem – including Hive, Oozie, Cascading, HBase
• Open source libraries and tools such as Spring, Maven, Guava, Apache Commons, Eclipse, Git, Jira, Jenkins
• Agile development methodologies including scrum, code reviews, pair programming
• Knowledge of SQL and Unit testing
• Knowledge of Linux
• Object oriented design and development
• Performance and scalability tuning, algorithms and computational complexity
• Processing massive structured and unstructured data sets

• Must be capable of multi-tasking, prioritizing, and handling a large project load in a fast-paced environment
• Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Must be detail-oriented and dedicated to accuracy
• Must be able to work and provide support as part of a team
