Support in Projects Manager NEW

We are looking for an intelligent, confident and methodical team leader to manage and develop the capabilities of Endava’s ‘Support in Projects’ Team.
The ‘Support in Projects’ team provides managed development environment services to our software developers, across different client projects and teams.
The role involves managing people, running the team, liaising with managers and understanding the challenges and compromises involved in transforming standardisation within software development environments.
A strong awareness of the common technologies, products and services involved in .NET and Java development environments is required for this role.
Candidates should also have experience of improving discipline, standardisation and efficiency within ‘business as usual’ operations, both in terms of deploying new environments and maintaining or modifying existing environments, and associated tools.

Responsibilities:
Gathering business requirements and defining goals
Consulting and steering developers, project managers, client managers and other staff
Defining ‘product catalogues’ of standards for environment support services
Defining operating processes, e.g. for deployment planning, software releases and code life-cycles, continuous integration, etc
Team leadership and team building
Writing process and service documentation
Estimating resources in new development project bids
Deployment planning and scheduling
Hardware stock inventory control and capacity management
OLA development and performance reporting
Assisting in building business cases for initiatives and improvement projects
Managing and developing staff skills
Future service integration planning (e.g. documentation and performance monitoring)

Mandatory skills:
Team Leadership
Architecture of standard builds of development environments
Estimating/sizing hardware for various project requirements / lifecycle stages
Installation package creation, deployment and management
Hardware inventory administration and deployment management
Awareness of continuous integration systems (e.g. Jenkins, Hudson)
Planning and operating patching services
English - successful applicants require excellent written and spoken English skills.
Communications – successful applicants should be friendly, diplomatic and able to communicate well at various levels within a business
Analytical – successful applicants must be able to quickly assess and understand business requirements and translate them into effective plans
Team leadership – able to work with colleagues both within Endava and client organisations and across multi-disciplined teams.
Technical Abstraction – able to work around a lack of specific technical knowledge by analyzing component functions and requirements
Confident and methodical with excellent attention to detail
Calmness – able to deal with pressured staff working to deadlines
Ownership – must be able to self-start and own issues to conclusion without management

Desired skills:
Production network and security topologies for production hosting
Advice and predictive assistance to .NET / Java developers
Application performance debugging and testing
Experience of using remote monitoring and automatic alerting systems
Aware of agile and planned iterative principles and limitations
Experience of resolving devops gap issues
ITIL

Candidates for this role should be capable and assertive, and possess the technical and people skills to liaise and balance occasionally conflicting priorities to conclusion, with the appropriate level of authority.
